Our Mulia Resort Bali review takes you inside one of Nusa Dua’s most popular luxury hotels to see what it’s like to stay here… and how kid-friendly it is.

If you’re looking for a luxury beach escape in Bali with a serious “wow” factor, then the Mulia Resort in Nusa Dua will absolutely deliver.
With its opulent interiors, massive pools, and some of the best dining in Bali, Mulia Resort feels less like a traditional Balinese retreat and more like a glamorous international resort. Think Dubai meets tropical island.
This is a great choice if you want a resort-style holiday where everything you need is on-site: amazing swimming pools, world-class dining, multiple kids clubs and a beautiful beach all at your fingertips.

Mulia Resort is part of the larger Mulia Bali complex, which also includes The Mulia (all suite hotel) and Mulia Villas. Located in upscale Nusa Dua, it is right on the beachfront, and is one of the largest resorts in Bali.
While it doesn’t have the intimate, laid-back Balinese atmosphere some may be looking for, it certainly makes up for it with its grandeur, five-star service and indulgent vibe.

Arriving at the Mulia Resort
The scale and grandeur of Mulia Bali is evident as soon as you are swept through the enormous entrance doors and into the cavernous lobby area.
With 745 rooms, suites and villas spread across 30 sprawling hectares of tropical gardens, this is one of the largest resorts in Bali.
More is more at the Mulia. You see it in the size of the swimming pools, the restaurants, the buffet spreads, the spa and, of course, those iconic statues that tower over swimmers in the pool.

The scale of the hotel is truly impressive (or daunting, depending on your attitude). You’ll need to be prepared to walk a little as you make your way from your guestroom to the restaurants and down to the beach area.
The good news is, you’ll get your steps up, meaning more excuses to indulge at the restaurants 🙂

Hotel Location
The Mulia is located within the upmarket Nusa Dua area of Bali. Known for its white sandy beaches and luxury resorts, Nusa Dua is where people head to in Bali for a flop-and-drop holiday.
The resort is located right on the large, quiet, sandy Geger Beach. You are fairly isolated here – there’s no walking out of the resort to a selection of restaurants or bars in the evening.
Luckily, the resort has everything you need right here, so you need never leave!
If you are feeling energetic, you can take a walk to the nearby Pura Geger Temple, or you can take a long stroll along the beach past other nearby resorts towards the Waterblow at Peninsula Island.
Local shopping mall Bali Collection is around a 10-minute drive by taxi / Gojek / Grab.
Travel time to/from the airport is approximately 25 minutes, depending on traffic.

Rooms at the Mulia Resort

If I had to choose one word to describe the rooms at the Mulia, it would be ‘opulent’.
With the marble floors, rich fabrics and sophisticated furnishings, it has a distinct European vibe to its interiors.
We stayed in two rooms during our visit — a Royal Suite for us, and a Mulia Signature Room for the kids. Both rooms were spacious, elegant, and well-appointed with everything you’d expect from a luxury hotel.

As expected, the Royal Suite offered a more elevated experience with a spacious layout, complete with desk and lounge areas.
If you are travelling with small kids, the suite includes a sofa bed, so the room can easily accommodate a family of four.
The marble bathroom was particularly impressive, with its deep soaking tub, rain shower with body jets and Toto toilet.
Rooms also offer a large TV with multiple channels to keep the whole family entertained, and we appreciated the charging portal, making it easy to keep the whole family’s devices topped up. We also loved having our own private balcony to relax on.
Take a look around our Royal Suite in my Instagram Reel:
The kids’ room was a Mulia Signature Room and while significantly smaller and less grand than the Royal Suite, at 59 sqm it was still plenty spacious and elegant.

It also featured a sizeable bathroom and large private balcony.

Hotel Facilities

Where to begin? The facilities at the Mulia Bali are incredible.
The swimming pools were a definite highlight for us. Officially, there are 6 swimming pools, but in reality, most guests at the Mulia Resort have access to three of these.
Most guests head straight to the Oceanfront Pool, and with good reason. It’s huge, beautifully designed, beachfront, and features a swim-up bar that’s perfect for a lazy afternoon cocktail.
Despite its popularity, it never felt crowded thanks to its generous size and we never had trouble bagging a poolside cabana or beach lounger.
For a more peaceful vibe, the two Courtyard Pools are ideal, and we often found ourselves having these serene spots all to ourselves.
Toddlers and younger kids will love the Splash Pool, with its water slides, spray jets and tipping bucket.
If adults are looking for some me-time without the kids, there is a choice of three Kids Clubs at the Mulia, designed for different ages:
- Mulia Kidz Club – designed for kids aged 3-8, with a variety of activities, including craft making, treasure hunts and Balinese cultural lessons.
- Mulia Kidz Explorer – welcoming kids aged 6-12, with a climbing wall, touchscreen and interactive projector games and foosball, as well as arts & craft activities.
- T-Zone Gaming – a dedicated space for older kids aged 9-15 and includes a variety of games, in addition to pool and beach games and water aerobics.
There is also a whole range of other activities for the family to join in with, such as yoga and fitness classes, private bonfires or cinema on the beach, or Canang Sari making classes.

The fitness centre is huge and well-equipped with state-of-the art equipment, a dedicated studio for classes, and personalised fitness programmes all on offer. There are also two full-sized tennis courts, with lessons on offer at the Kids Tennis Academy.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to head to the spa, as it looks as impressive as the rest of the resort.
With 20 treatment rooms, hydrotherapy pools, waterfalls, a Hydrotonic pool, Finnish sauna, aroma steam room and even Asia Pacific’s first Ice Room for Chromatherapy, it’s one for the list.

Food & Drink

Food is an absolute highlight of the Mulia Bali, with several excellent restaurants to choose from. These include:
- Soleil: located next to the Oceanfront pool and offering a varied Mediterranean and Pan-Asian menu. Known for hosting one of Bali’s best Sunday brunches.
- The Cafe: impressive international buffet served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also known for hosting one of Bali’s most indulgent Sunday brunches.
- Table8: excellent Cantonese and Chinese cuisine, including impressive buffet lunch and dinner at weekends and dim sum lunch on Sundays.
- Endogin: Japanese cuisine, with a menu including Teppanyaki, Sushi, Sashimi, and Robatayaki options.
- Cannele: a French artisanal patisserie, serving cakes, pastries and other treats in addition to an indulgent afternoon tea and other lunch options.
- Sky Bar: overlooking the beach and ocean, this is the ideal spot for a sundowner to the sound of chill tunes.
The biggest problem you will have at The Mulia, is trying not to over-indulge (we failed miserably).
We started each day at The Cafe, with a truly decadent breakfast. I’ve enjoyed a breakfast buffet at a wide-selection of 5-star hotels across Asia, but this was up there with the best.
As befitting the scale of the resort, the buffet here is supersized and super impressive. Anything you could imagine is on offer, from curries to sushi, from omelettes to noodle soups.
There’s even an entire dessert buffet plus a whole selection of ice cream for the kids!
One evening, we headed to Table8, the on-site Cantonese restaurant, where we also indulged in the buffet.
As a rule, I am not a fan of a dinner buffet. I prefer to choose a la carte, and have my meal delivered fresh from the kitchen.
However, I was super impressed with the Table8 buffet. With live cooking stations and an abundance of chefs, most dishes were cooked to order and the quality was excellent.
We all agreed it was the best Cantonese food we had enjoyed in a while.
We succumbed to another indulgent moment at the French artisanal patisserie, Cannele. Just walking into the patisserie is a feast for the eyes, with its exquisite selection of cakes, pastries and chocolates.

The menu here offers a choice of sandwiches, soups, salads and main courses, and it’s open all day so you can pop in to partake at any time.
But we were here for one thing, and one thing only: the high tea. And boy, we were not disappointed! Each item on the trays was as inventive, decadent and delicious as the next.
It was impossible not to over-eat here, and we rolled ourselves out the doors when we were done.
With our waistbands straining, there was no need for dinner that evening. Instead, we opted for sundowners at the Sky Bar, overlooking the ocean, where we could sip cocktails to the sound of the chillout tunes.

The best way to round out the day!
