Our Villa Markisa review takes you inside a beautiful 3-bedroom villa in the Uluwatu region of Bali to see what Bali villa living is like.
Villa Markisa is a stunning 3-bedroom villa located in the Uluwatu region of Bali. It has generous bedrooms, beautifully landscaped gardens, friendly staff, and a wonderful swimming pool.
It is spacious and comfortable and the perfect place to hang out as a family.
We arranged our villa stay through Villa Finder. As part of the booking, they have a concierge service that can help you organise transport, a chef, yoga classes, baby and villa equipment, massages, doctors and more.
This is a fantastic service to have if you may be feeling isolated by staying in a private villa rather than a hotel, and we found everything easy to organise through them via Whatssap.

Reasons to love Villa Markisa
- It has three spacious bedrooms with a flexible set-up for families.
- You can relax next to a beautiful swimming pool.
- The outdoor bathrooms are stunning.
- It’s a short drive from Uluwatu’s famous clifftop restaurants and beach clubs.
- It is luxurious, private and relaxing.
Location
Villa Markisa is handily located between Uluwatu and Jimbaran. When I first saw it on the map, I had concerns it would be ‘in the middle of nowhere’, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
It is a short drive away from Uluwatu’s famous clifftop restaurants and beach clubs, and the famous Uluwatu temple, all easily reached via Grab or Gojek (see my practical tips for visiting Bali here).
It is tucked away in a quiet compound off the main road, but also has some local cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance, offering the best of both worlds.
Soda Cafe is right at the end of the road and there are a couple of bakeries just a short stroll away, making it easy to grab a coffee or snack whenever you need to.
If you are travelling from other parts of Bali, then these are approximate drive times (depending on traffic):
- Ngurah Rai International Airport: 20 minutes
- Nusa Dua: 20 minutes
- Seminyak: 30 minutes
- Ubud: 80 minutes

Rooms
Villa Markisa offers three spacious bedrooms, housed in two separate pavilions. With the winding pathways connecting the bedroom and living pavilions, you feel like you have your own private compound.
All bedrooms are luxuriously decorated, with high ceilings, air-conditioning, large screen TVs and feature beautiful outdoor bathrooms.
The master bedroom, within its own pavilion, is enormous, with a comfortable king-size bed. It has a large walk-in wardrobe, offering plenty of storage space for longer stays.
The outdoor bathroom is spectacular, with a deep-soaking tub and a fantastic rain shower surrounded by greenery.
The additional two bedrooms share a pavilion, and are separated by a shared walk-through wardrobe.
This is the ideal arrangement for families with smaller kids who don’t want to sleep in a separate pavilion, but still want their own space and privacy.
The main bedroom features a stunning king-size canopy bed, while the second bedroom is fitted with twin beds, perfect for kids.
These rooms share another beautiful, spacious outdoor bathroom with a unique stone bathtub and rain shower.

Facilities
The main wow factor of Villa Markisa is the glorious private swimming pool, with loungers and a day bed for ultimate chilling. It has a separated shallow area that would be great for toddlers to play in.
Beautifully landscaped and well-maintained gardens surround the pool, adding to the sense of tropical luxury and tranquillity.
Beside the pool is a breezy open-air, open-plan kitchen / dining / living area.
There’s a fully fitted kitchen if you choose to do your own cooking (or hire a chef through the villa). This includes a large fridge with filtered water, plus oven, microwave and hob.
There’s also a large, comfy sofa for relaxation, meaning multiple areas for families to either come together to connect, or retreat to for privacy.

Food & Drink
Breakfast is included every morning in the villa, freshly cooked and served by the villa staff at a time to suit you.
We had a wonderful selection of fresh fruit, avocado toast, poached and scrambled eggs, sourdough toast, crepes and fresh juice.
The villa can also arrange a chef for other meals during your stay. There is a selection of takeaway menus for nearby restaurants if you prefer to order in, or a few restaurants and cafes within a short walk for eating out.

Conclusion
We loved our stay at Villa Markisa and didn’t want to leave after our two-night stay! We would usually choose a hotel over a villa, but our stay at Villa Markisa has converted us to villa holidays.
We loved the space and privacy, and the villa feels luxurious but also homely and comfortable. It was the perfect place to hang out as a family.
We even chose to stay in the villa one evening and order takeout, which is unheard of for us, as eating out at restaurants is a large part of our holidays. But once you get cocooned into the comfort of the villa, you just don’t want to leave!
