Luxury Escapes has launched a “Kids Fly Free” Maldives sale for Australian families, including the first-ever direct flights from Melbourne to Malé.
Planning a winter escape with the kids? A new travel sale from Luxury Escapes could make a bucket-list trip to the Maldives a lot more affordable for families in Australia.
The company has launched a limited-time “Follow the Sun” sale, with discounted holiday packages to warm-weather destinations including Bali, Thailand, Vietnam and the Maldives.
But the standout deal for families is a Kids Fly Free offer to the Maldives, potentially saving more than $1,000 per child.
First-Ever Direct Flights from Australia to the Maldives
The sale also coincides with the launch of a new direct charter flight between Australia and the Maldives, operated by Maldivian Airlines.
The nonstop service will run between Melbourne and Malé from May (subject to approval), removing the usual stopover in cities like Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. For families, that means a much simpler journey to one of the world’s most iconic island destinations.
Kids aged 2–11 can fly free on select Maldives packages when travelling on the charter service.
Traditionally known as a honeymoon destination, the Maldives has been increasingly attracting families thanks to resorts with kids’ clubs, waterparks and family villas.

Travel Dates and Booking Window
The sale runs until 29 March 2026, with travel dates covering parts of June, July and September 2026, including some Australian school holiday periods.
