Phuket is one of our favourite family-friendly destinations. It has great beaches, amazing food and there is plenty to do in Phuket with kids.

There is also a fantastic range of family-friendly resorts in Phuket, but for the ultimate luxury, privacy and flexibility, we recommend hiring a private Phuket villa.

This way you can wake in your own time, enjoy a leisurely breakfast in your own private poolside alfresco dining area and then take a dip in your own private pool.

There’s no hustling for sun loungers, no struggling to get the kids dressed on time and no worrying about anyone else but your own family and friends.

Phuket Villas for Families

Note that while all of the villas in our selection feature swimming pools, they do not have pool fences. This is common in Phuket, and is something to be aware of if you are holidaying with toddlers or small children.

Which part of Phuket is best for families?

People are often surprised by how large Phuket is. Travel time from Kamala Beach to Phuket Town, for example, can be around 45 minutes. While if you are staying in Nai Harn, you should allow 1.5 hours travel time from the airport.

So if you don’t want to spend all your time in traffic, you need to choose which part of Phuket to stay in. This will depend on whether you plan to spend most of your time on the beach, visiting some of the top restaurants on the island, island hopping or visiting attractions, such as Andamada Water Park.

Family Villas in Kamala Beach

Kamala Beach is a fantastic area for families to stay in Phuket. It is just a 15-minute drive from infamous party zone Patong, but is a world away in atmosphere. It’s much quieter with a chilled, laid-back vibe perfect for a family vacation.

The beach itself is a beautiful 2-kilometre stretch of white sand, has shallow waters for splashing around in and sunloungers for kicking back on.

You’ll also find a good selection of bars and restaurants, next to the beach and in the town, for both local Thai and Western food.

This is also where you’ll find some of the best luxury villas in Phuket. These are generally concentrated on the headland just south of Kamala beach, in an area dubbed ‘Millionaire’s Mile’.

Villas here command incredible ocean views and offer up everything you could possibly dream of in a vacation villa.

Just a few minute drive north of Kamala Beach, brings you to Surin. The demolition of all the beachfront bars and restaurants in 2016 means that Surin is a shadow of its former self.

However the beach itself remains beautiful and probably benefits from less crowds. The area is popular with families due to its handy location between Kamala and Bangtao beaches, and you will find a good choice of restaurants within Surin itself too.

Family Villas in Nai Harn Beach

Nai Harn is located around a 90-minute drive from Phuket airport and has more of a village feel than the other areas mentioned here. You will also find that there is a greater number of affordable villas in this area.

Nai Harn Beach itself is a long, wide white sand beach with a calm lagoon area good for kids. It is quieter than many other Phuket beaches and offers a good choice of bars and restaurants.

Also in the area, you will find Nai Harn Lake with a playground and pedalo hire, Ao Sane Beach, which is popular for snorkelling and famous sunset spot Promthep Cape. If you are planning on doing some island hopping by boat, then Rawai beach is nearby for joining boat excursions.

Villa Sunstone
