Dubai is one giant playground for kids. There is so much to entertain kids in Dubai, with sandy beaches, big-name attractions, fun water parks and an entire desert to explore. If you need more persuading, then take a look at five reasons why you should consider Dubai for your next family vacation.

5 Reasons to visit Dubai with kids

A Wide Choice of Family Friendly Hotels

There is a huge range of fabulous family hotels in Dubai, with all the facilities you could dream of to make your family vacation easier. You’ll have a choice of restaurants, swimming pools and babysitting services. Room sizes tend to be big in Dubai too, which is always welcome news to travelling families. Some great choices to check out include the Novotel Suites, which is attached to the Mall of the Emirates with its giant indoor ski slope, and Atlantis the Palm and Jumeirah Beach Hotel, which are both attached to fun water parks.

Fabulous Water Parks

Dubai is HOT for most of the year. What better way for the kids to cool off than at one of the world-class water parks that Dubai has on offer? Aquaventure in the huge Atlantis the Palm resort is the biggest water park in Dubai, with rides to suit the whole family. Here you’ll find the adrenaline-inducing Leap of Faith and Poseidon’s Revenge along with the more sedate lazy river. Other popular water parks include Wild Wadi Water Park, The Beach at JBR, and relative newcomer Legoland Water Park, which is perfect for the little ones.

World-Class Theme Parks

Thrill seekers around the world rejoiced when IMG Worlds of Adventure opened in 2016 to great fanfare. The world’s largest indoor theme park has more than 20 rides, including the Velociraptor, Dubai’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster. Another fun destination for theme park lovers is Dubai Parks & Resorts, home to Motiongate, a Hollywood inspired adventure land, featuring 27 movie-themed rides. Bollywood Parks features 16 rides and 30 live Bollywood-themed shows, and Legoland Dubai delights younger kids with its 40 rides and 15,000 Lego models.

A Whole Desert to Explore

You can’t visit Dubai without getting out into the vast desert to explore. This promises to be a fun experience for the kids! There are several companies offering desert safaris. They take you dune bashing before having a shot at camel riding and sand boarding, and then you settle down for a traditional Arabic dinner, complete with belly dancing and henna painting. Some trips even include overnight camping or glamping under the stars.

Family Friendly Beaches

If you prefer your sand to go with sun loungers and the sparkling blue sea, then Dubai also delivers that in abundance. Whether you’re looking to kite surf, paddle board, kick back with a book or build sandcastles with the kids, there are plenty of beaches in Dubai to choose from. Popular family beaches include Sunset Beach for that iconic Burj Al Arab photograph, and The Beach at JBR for its proximity to dining, shopping and entertainment options.

  1. Visiting the desert to go to Water parks. It just seems… strange. Despite all the good things I hear about Dubai I’m still unimpressed. Is it all those dreary stop-overs on the flights to UK in the 80’s that have left a bad impression? Maybe, I’m not sure.

I guess one day I’ll have to bite the bullet and try it for myself!

    • I guess when you think about it like that, it does seem kind of funny to go to water parks in the desert – on the other hand, who doesn’t love a great water park!?

  3. Yeah, the water must evaporate like crazy. I bet they keep a constant influx of water running just to keep the park filled. I wouldn’t want to pay that water bill!
